Travel Bursary
The Hellenic Medical Society is pleased to offer £250 to support medical students and trainees for electives abroad. A sub-committee of the HMS UK Board Committee will award the travel grant. There is no designated submission form required but applications must be no longer than 1000 words and should ideally include the proposal of a small research project to be conducted at the time of the elective attachment. Please send also your Curriculum Vitae together with confirmation of the attachment to our secretary (e-mail: secretary@hellenicmedicalsocietyuk.org) by the end of June of each year. The successful candidates are expected to present their experience and (if relevant) results of the research project at the annual Papanicolaou Prize competition meeting. Regrettably the HMS is not able to provide funds for any other causes. Applicants must be medical students or trainees of Hellenic heritage.
ΚΕ.Σ.Υ. plans to develop a database consisting of the contact information of Greek expatriate scientists, which will be available on it’s website. In this way, a channel of communication will be established to enable scientists in Greece to explore opportunities abroad as well as expatriate scientists to further support the scientific community in Greece. They invite all the expatriate medical workforce to declare their availability and willingness to be contacted by and collaborate with individuals as well as scientific organisations in Greece
Using a realistic but imaginative approach, the objective of the initiative is to bring high quality human capital of the country together and to create collaboration links between them. This networking of Greeks can strengthen the growth prospects of the country and ensure that participating Greeks become part of a joint endeavour.
